The appearance of acne can be devastating. Acne leaves the skin looking red, blotchy, bumpy, infected and more. To add insult to injury it also leaves scars, some easy to treat, while others are more difficult. Many people who suffer from acne wish to cover it up, hide it away and pretend it isn’t happening to us, no matter how mild of a case.
True enough, some acne scars are easy to conceal. These are the scars left by milder forms of acne, or acne that has been successfully treated in the beginning. If your scars are easily concealed, covering them with makeup will save you the expense of scar removal treatments - medical procedures performed by a dermatologist. For these milder scars, there is makeup available that can enhance the appearance of your skin, giving it an even look.
Deeper scars are caused by more severe types of acne and may require medical treatment to permanently remove as no amount of makeup will cover them.
If you’ve decided to use makeup to cover your acne, be sure to stay away from products that are comedogenic (products that actually clog pores and cause acne!). These products add oils to your , causing further and often more severe breakouts and irritation. Instead, use non-comedogenic products which do not contain oil and won’t clog pores.
If you have had a history of problem skin, it is often wise to select makeup that is light, non-greasy, and non-comedogenic. There are numerous foundations and powders available for sensitive skin that fall into this category. People with especially oily skin might want to use a matte powder on top as it serves as a modifier and can help control excess oil secretion on your facial skin.
You can also get good, non-comedogenic, foundation, specifically formulated for sensitive skin AND has a mild acne treatment in the base. They are a little pricier, but if you have to wear makeup for the majority of the day and evening this is well worth the investment.
If it helps you feel any better, often lighten over the years, so it may not always be necessary to slopping on the goop by day. For those that don’t, special treatments are available to remove them, skin care products to lighten them, as well as good makeup that conceals them.
When covering blemishes and acne scars, don’t use a shade that will only bring attention to them. Choose shades that suit your skin tone, and be sure the makeup is applied evenly on your skin. If makeup isn’t working to cover up your acne, try a formulated concealer cream. These work great to cover blemishes and reduce the appearance of acne scarring.
I have such a hard time trying to conceal my acne.
I hate the obvious appearance of someone who’s wearing too much make-up to cover their flaws.
I’ve spent more money than necessary on treatments, leaving me with no drive to continue spending on something like cosmetics.
The most recent product I’ve purchased is the Murad Acne Complex Kit and to me, it’s the best beauty buy.
Hoping this helps others, Diana
i used just about everthing ther is for acne, im 14 i get white heads , blackheads and deep ones daily, ive had 3 laisers, but my parents want to wait untel the ances gone before i get more, i use powder daily, i have terrible dark red marks on my face, iv recentlty have been getting dents, and i really dont want to live with ance dents, is there any way to get rid of the dents or pits?
p.s. i use this tool i got from sephora daily to pop them for about 20 mins, could that make more scars?
I use Clean & Clear Advantage Invisable Ance Patch. You put it on the pimples (no matter if they have popped or not) and when it dries it leaves a film over it (with ance medicine 2% s. acid) and then you can put your make up over it and your face looks flaw less. It’s great!
