How to Get Rid of Pimples
How To get Rid Of Acne Blemishes
Here’s an easy to follow 3 step program, plus some tips to help you get rid of, and keep control of acne blemishes.Step 1: Clean your Face Before Treating It
- Wash facial area with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser specifically formulated for acne prone or sensitive skin. Look for a cleanser that is ph balanced or helps to achieve normal ph balance for your face.
- If you have a tendency to have oily skin, use a cleanser that contains salicylic acid or benzoil peroxide.
- Do not scrub or tug at your skin during cleansing. Irritatation swells the pores which can cause further breakouts!
- Only use a cleansing toner after washing if your skin is very oily, otherwise skip the toner entirely. Your ph balanced cleanser will balance your skin’s composition anyway.
Step 2: Acne Treatment
- Daytime – Apply an over the counter, topical acne treatment containing either glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or salicylic acid over your facial skin. Apply to entire face, not just spot treating current blemishes.
- Bedtime – Switch to an evening treatment, let it soak in for about 20 minutes and top with an oil-free moisturizer around the eye zone and lip zone.
- In the morning – After cleansing, apply an oil-free sunscreen over your entire face.
Step 3: Cover Up and Protect
- Using a small makeup applicator, dab concealer or oil-free foundation directly onto pimples.
- Using gentle pressure and the tip of your finger, wipe away and blend in excess concealer to the surrounding skin.
- Brush or pat on a facial powder (also oil-free) over entire face.
A Few Tips…
- If your skin is oily and you’re used to using a toner after cleansing, you might like to apply it only to the T-zone (across the forehead, on the nose and chin), and rinsing it off afterward. Sometimes using too much toner, too often, causes the skin to produce even more oil which in turn block pores and cause more breakouts!
- Buy and use a mask (clay works best for acne prone skin) 2-3 times per week.
- You can reduce the redness and swelling of acne blemishes by dabbing on a drop of Preparation H or Vasocon-A eyedrops on the blemish – both available from your local drugstore.
