Adult Acne?

healthyover40skinLinda Jane asked: I’m almost 22 years old. During my teen years and puberty I never had acne- with the exception of the occasional but rare pimple on my face, I consider myself lucky for not having to go through the acne phase most of my life.

As I’m getting older I’m noticing more and more acne starting to develop on my face. I don’t have an oily face or T-zone acne, it mainly develops on my chin area- and at the edges of my eyebrows. It’s not the acne that’s full of puss and nasty- it’s 99% little annoying red bumps that usually turn out to be a black head in the long run.

My mother struggled with adult acne, so could this be happening to me? And what products would you recommend? I have semi-sensitive skin so Noxema or Neutrogena just breaks me out more- which is also a problem!

Any advice?

  • YOU SHOULD BUT SOME PROACTIVE SOLUTION

  • you should try pro-active i know it sound like a big promotional offer but I’m 22 as well and i have used it for three years and it has worked wonders
also might sound obvious but try not to touch your face and drink lots of water good luck!!!!!!!

  • Wash your face with an oil-free cleanser. Neutragena works for me. Don’t forget to use moisturizer afterwards because it’s harder on your skin if you don’t. If you don’t see any results after a few weeks, I’d call my family doctor (a dermatologist is better) and I’m sure they can give you something that will help.

  • I have the same problem, the noxema and neutrogena have the same active ingredient that irratates my skin and makes me break out more, so that may be part of the problem… I use one of the knock-off brands of proactive from target and that seems to work well for me. It has benzoyl peroxide (I think that’s how its spelled) as the active ingredient instead of saylic acid (or however its spelled). As long as I use it everyday my acne stays under control. And it’s about $20 for the kit. Hope this helps and works for you too!

  • I’ve been fighting with acne since i was 18 now im 20 & its mild but i hate it. IT SUCKS! well you can use the clearsil daily wash & that should take it of it. good luck =]

  • Hi Elle,

I’m so happy to read you because I’m in exactly the same position ; no acné when teenage, then since the age 22 maybe, light but continuous acné … not unbearable, but annoying; exactly the same zone as the ones you said (chin area- and at the edges of my eyebrows).
Did you get any reply to your question? Or any result with a treatment you’ve been advised to follow?

I would love to know of you got some interesting information!

    Tks !
