What Causes Acne?

The exact cause of acne is not known 100%. If we knew, we could annilate it!

Doctors believe though, and most would concur that acne breakouts result from a variety of closely related factors.

One of the most important factors is increase in hormonal activity.. The increase in hormones, recognized and documented during puberty, activates sebaceous glands in our bodies and enlarges and makes sebum. Other key hormonal changes throughout our growth are pregnancy or birth control pill usages.

A secondary noticable factor is genetic. Your parents or grandparents may have suffered with acne and you got it as a result. Studies have now shown that many teenage acne sufferers have a family history of acne breakouts.

  • Hormonal changes
  • Hands, or clothing rubbing against your skin
  • Pollution and humidity
  • Squeezing or scrubbing acne pimples
